چکیده

Knowledge of longitudinal electron bunch profiles is vital to optimize the performance plasma wakefield accelerators and x-ray free laser linacs. Because their importance these novel applications, noninvasive frequency domain techniques are often employed reconstruct from coherent synchrotron, transition, or undulator radiation measurements. In this paper, we detail several common reconstruction involving Kramers–Kronig phase relationship Gerchberg–Saxton algorithm. Through statistical analysis, draw general conclusions about accuracy most suitable candidate for reconstructing well-isolated spectroscopic data.

Multi-bunch Longitudinal Instability due to the Electron Cloud

The mechanism of longitudinal interaction of high-energy positrons of a bunch train and secondary emitted particles of electron cloud is analyzed. We consider the case when electron cloud in solenoidal magnetic field is built mainly due to multipacting process. Positron bunches have to use some amount of their kinetic energy to give electron cloud some temperature. The field, which is responsib...

A Quest for Measuring Ion Bunch Longitudinal Profiles with One Picosecond Accuracy in the Sns Linac

The SNS linac utilizes several accelerating structures operating at different frequencies and with different transverse focusing structures. Low-loss beam transport requires careful matching at the transition points for both the transverse and longitudinal plane. Longitudinal beam parameters are measured using four Bunch Shape Monitors (used at many ion accelerator facilities, aka Feschenko dev...

Single Bunch Longitudinal Measurements of the Cornell Electron- Positron Storage Ring with the Superconducting RF Cavities

As part of the Phase III luminosity upgrade, the Cornell Electron-Positron Storage Ring (CESR) RF system has been upgraded from normal conducting (NRF) to superconducting (SRF) cavaties. The new superconducting cavities change the overall impedance of CESR and thus change the longitudinal bunch distribution. Measurements of the single bunch longitudinal distribution have been made using a strea...

Measurements of Bunch Motion Due to the Longitudinal Dipole-Coupled Bunch Instability at the Cornell Electron-Positron Storage

In the past a longitudinal dipole-coupled bunch instability had limited high current operation at CESR and resulted in a degradation of luminosity performance. A longitudinal feedback system successfully damps this instability and the exchange of superconducting rf cavities for normal conducting rf cavities in CESR has further reduced the instability's strength. A description of the longitudina...

Testing Static Analyzers with Randomly Generated Programs

Static analyzers should be correct. We used the random Cprogram generator Csmith, initially intended to test C compilers, to test parts of the Frama-C static analysis platform. Although Frama-C was already relatively mature at that point, fifty bugs were found and fixed during the process, in the front-end (AST elaboration and typechecking) and in the value analysis, constant propagation and sl...
